Sunday School Lesson 9:  The Lamb Is Worthy, Revelation 5:1-10, April 27, 2025.

Key Text: They sung a new song, saying, thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slane, and hast redeemed us to God by the blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation (Revelation 5:9).

The Book With Seven Seals (a scroll with seven messages) is the title deed to the earth to which Christ has the right of ownership, both by way of creation and, by way of redemption at Calvary.  Romans sealed their will seven times on the edge of each roll to prevent unauthorized entry.  The contents of The Book would not be known until the Redeemer was on the Throne and until God’s appointed time.   Since only the one with the proper authority could open the book, the question is, ‘Who has the right to judge the world” v 2 and execute what is written.  The answer gives tremendous significance in showing the place which is already given to the one who had been crucified, Jesus Christ, a Lion (from Lamb to Ruler) from the tribe of Judah, and with the Davidic covenant–the Root of David v 5.   He has paid in blood for the life of men and He Himself is the divine master of the seven seals.  Christ has the right to judge, possess, and rule the earth because of His submission to the death of the Cross.   The Book must involve a matter of importance for the apostle to have wept much.  However, their weeping is turned to joy when one of the elders points out theOne able to open the book and the seals.

Now the Lamb sits at the right hand of the Father as seven horns point to His fullness of power and seven eyes speak of the characteristic of the fullness of the Spirit.  The Lamb was sacrificed for man’s sins, He has all power to overcome every foe, and He enjoys all wisdom and intelligence to foresee and oversee.  “He came and took the book and when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell before the Lamb, each holding a harp and  golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.”  They sing a new song v 9 – 10:  You are worthy to take scroll and to open its seal, for you were slaughtered and by your blood you ransomed for God saints from every tribe and language and people and nation; you have made them to be a kingdom and priests serving out God, and they will reign on earth.”  AMEN!
